Mischief
The voyage
Three cabins for six. Roughly a third of what a boat this size usually carries.
Mischief carries six. A phinisi this size usually carries ten, sometimes thirteen, so the arithmetic is the whole argument: three couples, or one family, on a boat built with a third more room than the group needs. The three cabins are en suite and sit outboard, so each one has its own view of the water rather than a view of the passageway. The sundeck is the size the vessel's length implies, which on a six guest boat means there is always somewhere to sit that no one else is using. Her range runs from Komodo up through Raja Ampat, which puts the diving and the long crossings both within reach, and the crew works to six rather than to a full manifest. What that changes is small and constant: meals happen when you want them, the tender goes out when you ask, and nothing aboard runs on a schedule set by other people's plans.

Cabins and facilities
Spaces
A 29 metre phinisi in ironwood and teak, built in 2016 for six guests and nobody else. Three cabins, ten crew, and a solar bank that lets the engines sleep at night. Here is how she is arranged.

The Cabins
Three cabins, six guests
Three en suite cabins facing the sea. The Komodo Suite takes the upper deck, king bed, sitting room, a lounge out front. Sumba and Banda on the main deck, Banda as a double or twins. Ten crew for the six of you.

Outdoor Decks
Nothing between you and the horizon
An upper lounge on the top deck with a day bed, a sea view in every direction and a bottle within reach. Mornings for the crossing, afternoons at anchor, evenings for the sky. Pick a level. Change your mind later.

Saloon & Bar
For a drink or two, at any hour
Deep sofas, a small library, a smart TV for the night nobody admits to wanting one, and a bar that keeps no hours. Wine, cocktails, and a crew who will mix either without being asked twice.

Dining on Board
From the galley
Dinner is taken on the upper deck in the open air, with the sky for a ceiling. The galley works with the best of what it can find, and the plates arrive when the light goes. Six at the table, every night.

Quiet Nights
The generator sleeps too
Solar panels charge batteries through the day and run the boat through the night, so the machinery goes quiet at dusk and stays quiet until it is needed. What you hear at anchor is water on the hull and not much else.

Diving & Water Toys
Out, and back
PADI dive masters on board, discover scuba for anyone who has never tried, and sites from Komodo to Raja Ampat with Sumbawa's whale sharks in between. Snorkelling, kayaks and paddleboards for the surface. A 100 horsepower RIB for the rest.
