Calico Jack
The voyage
Built around diving. Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, Cenderawasih, and Komodo.
Calico Jack is the diver's boat in this fleet, and the itinerary is the reason. Raja Ampat and Komodo are on it, as they are elsewhere, but so are Triton Bay and Cenderawasih Bay, and almost nothing else in Indonesia goes to both. Triton is soft coral at a density people plan a year around. Cenderawasih holds whale sharks that stay near the fishing platforms rather than passing through, which makes it one of the few places the encounter is reliable instead of lucky. Between them sit wrecks from the Pacific war and reefs with no dive operator within a day's sail. Five en suite cabins for ten guests, a handcrafted phinisi hull, and decks laid out for tanks and gear rather than for looking at. Food is good and the crew is experienced, but nobody books this boat for the deck. They book it for what is under it.

Cabins and facilities
Spaces
A 30 metre phinisi, hand built in Sulawesi and sailed under red sails, set up as a dive expedition boat first and everything else second. Five cabins, ten guests, ten crew and a marine biologist. Here is how she is arranged.

The Cabins
Five cabins, ten guests
Five en suite cabins with hot showers, air conditioning, fans for the nights you want the air moving, and a socket for every camera battery. Two doubles, one twin, two that go either way. Made up daily while you are underwater.

Sun Deck & Observation Deck
Nothing between you and the horizon
A sun deck with sofas and shade, an observation deck above it with sunbeds and the long view, and a surface interval that never feels wasted. The red sails go up when the wind is right. Pick a level. Change your mind later.

Indoor Lounge
For the hours between dives
Bean bags, a library, board games and a film collection for the crossings. A projector for the evening briefing and the day's sightings, with the marine biologist explaining what you just swam past. Starlink on board, for better or worse.

Dining on Board
From the galley
Asian fusion and international cooking from a chef who shops locally and does not repeat himself. Breakfast after the first dive, lunch between the next two, three courses under the stars. One table, ten guests, vegetarians and vegans fed with notice.

Dive Deck
Unhurried, and several times a day
A proper dive platform with Nitrox, two compressors, rinse tanks, drying racks and a camera station with its own tank. Two dive tenders, two guides and an instructor, five divers to a guide. Courses up to Advanced and Nitrox on board.
