Aliikai Voyage
The voyage
Seven cabins across forty one metres, the fleet's most efficient boat for a full group.
Aliikai takes fourteen guests across seven cabins on a forty one metre hull, which makes her the most efficient way to put a whole group on the water without moving up to a sixty metre boat and the rate that comes with it. What you notice aboard is that the vessel is worked rather than staged. Wooden, classically built, with living areas sized for a group that already knows each other and will spend most of the day outside the cabins anyway. The range is wide, through Komodo, north to Raja Ampat, east into the Banda Sea, which puts mantas, reef diving and stretches of coast with no other boat on them within reach of a single itinerary. Service is steady rather than theatrical. For a family group or a set of friends chartering together and splitting the cost fourteen ways, this is usually the number that works.

Cabins and facilities
Spaces
A 41 metre phinisi in ironwood, rebuilt in Bulukumba between 2019 and 2021 by more than a dozen carpenters. Seven cabins over three decks, two with private terraces, a dozen crew and an expedition leader. Here is how she is arranged.

The Cabins
Seven cabins, three decks
Seven en suite cabins, all air conditioned. Two owner’s cabins with king beds and private terraces, Kei up top and Fam on the main deck. Two with windows above, two with portholes below, and Asmat in the bow with a sofa bed for the child.

Decks & Sun Deck
Nothing between you and the horizon
A roof with sun beds for the first light and the last, a sundeck on the main deck for the hours between, and wide walkways for the crossing. Bose speakers, when the mood calls. Pick a level. Change your mind later.

Indoor Lounge & Bar
For the hottest hour, and after dark
An air conditioned lounge and bar with wraparound windows, so taking refuge from the sun does not mean losing the view. Glass doors fold back onto a covered outdoor lounge with day beds and sofas and the dining table under the stars.

Upper Lounge
Yoga by morning, cinema by night
Morning yoga with a panoramic view and the breeze doing the air conditioning. By evening the crew turns the same deck into an open air cinema, with a film library to pick from and popcorn included. Children’s choice wins more often than not.

Dining on Board
From the galley
Indonesian spices, a subtle hand with the western plates, vegan and vegetarian menus without being asked twice. Join the chef at the morning market or in the galley for a class, then eat the results on a beach that evening.

Dive Centre & Toys
Out, and back
Full scuba kit, Nitrox and PADI dive masters, a hot shower for after the night dive, and a ventilated camera room for the photographs. Two tandem kayaks, four paddleboards, water skis, surfboards and fishing gear. Two tenders, 6 and 5.5 metres.

Beachside Escapes
Dinner, moved ashore
A beach dinner set by the crew with nobody else on the sand, a volleyball net and a bag of beach games for before it, and the sunset as the only timetable. No other guests. No closing time.
