The voyage

Three cabins on a thirty metre hull, where most carry five. Space is the point.

Anne Bonny gives away cabins to gain room. Most phinisi this size sleep ten across five cabins. She sleeps nine across three, which means the deck space, the saloon and the shaded corners are divided between fewer people than the hull was built for. On a week at sea, that is the difference that registers. The three cabins are en suite and the layout suits one family or one group of friends rather than a set of strangers sharing a charter. Her range runs beyond Komodo into Raja Ampat and the Banda Sea, where the mantas are the draw and the distances mean days spent moving as well as days spent anchored. Meals come from a chef who provisions for the voyage rather than the menu. Most of what happens aboard is unstructured, which is usually the reason people book a boat with this much room on it.

Cabins and facilities

Spaces

A 30 metre phinisi, hand built on a Sulawesi beach by Bugis boatbuilders and sailing since 2015. Three cabins, nine guests, ten crew, and a name borrowed from a pirate. Here is how she is arranged.

The Cabins

The Cabins

Three suites, nine guests

Three en suite cabins, all air conditioned. A master with a king bed and two bunks for up to four. Two family cabins with a king and a single bunk each. Eight adults, or six with three children. Nobody on the sofa.

Open Air Decks

Open Air Decks

Nothing between you and the horizon

Twenty three metres of deck, most of it shaded, all of it facing the water. Mornings in the breeze with coffee, afternoons stretched out, evenings handed over to the sunset. There is always a seat, and rarely a reason to leave it.

Lounge & Leisure

Lounge & Leisure

No rush, by design

A lounge to stretch out in, a hammock to sway in, a film under the stars when the night calls for one. Or do nothing and watch the islands go past. Both are on the programme. Neither is mandatory.

Dining on Board

Dining on Board

From the galley

Meals are taken in the open air, sea on one side, sky on the other. Breakfast as slow as you like, lunch between dives, dinner under the stars, all from a chef who cooks fresh. Guests mention the food first. Then the diving.

Dive Station & Water Toys

Dive Station & Water Toys

Out, and back

A dedicated dive station, full snorkelling kit and two tenders, so getting in the water is never the hard part. Kayaks and paddleboards for the quiet hours, a wakeboard for the loud ones. Then back for lunch.

Beachside Escapes

Beachside Escapes

Dinner, moved ashore

Some evenings end on the sand. The tender runs you to a beach with nobody on it, the crew lights the barbecue, and dinner is whatever came off the grill last. No other guests. No closing time.
